Step 1
Run the following command to verify if it is enabled or disabled. 0=enabled & 1=disabled
cat /proc/sys/net/ipv6/conf/all/disable_ipv6
Step 2
Using vi add the following lines to /etc/sysctl.conf
the # comment is optional but considered a best practice
#disable ipv6
net.ipv6.conf.all.disable_ipv6 = 1
net.ipv6.conf.default.disable_ipv6 = 1
net.ipv6.conf.lo.disable_ipv6 = 1

Reboot and run the first command to verify that is has been disabled.
